Today is my 30-somethingth birthday. No, I won’t tell you exactly how old I am. In honor of my birthday, though, I will share with you one of my favorite wines.
Sauvignon Blanc can be a polarizing wine. Depending on where it comes from, it can have one of three noticeable characteristics – mineral, citrus-y or herbaceous/grassy. For someone who loves Sauvignon Blanc, like myself, these variations can be exciting to explore. If someone isn’t familiar with Sauvignon Blanc, though, it is a tough wine to encourage a person to discover because of the spectrum that it covers.

2013 Purple Star Sauvignon Blanc
This Sauvignon Blanc is a lovely wine. With bright citrus flavors, along with hints of stone fruit and minerality, this wine is one that you need in your life. I love the wine because it’s a good weekday wine that won’t break the bank. It’s $12 a bottle through their website.
Yes, you read that correctly. An amazing Washington Sauvignon Blanc that only costs $12.
Food-wise, I recommend keeping it simple and light. Grilled fish or fresh crab would be divine with this balanced wine. You could also do a cheese plate, with a heavy focus on tangy and soft cheeses, such as goat cheese and brie.
Run, don’t walk, to your nearest retailer for this. If it isn’t available, look on Purple Star’s website to see if you can have it shipped to you!
