Welcome to the Summer of Rosé series! Throughout the summer, I will highlight different rosés from around the world.
Who else is glad that summer is here? I know I am. The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming…and the rosé’s are out in full force!
Renegade Wine Company is the value label for Walla Walla’s most rocking (literally) tasting room, Sleight of Hand Cellars. Every year, winemaker Trey Busch looks to make a delicious, yet affordable, Rhône style rosé. Each year, the blend is different, with the 2015 vintage being a blend of 80% Syrah, 11% Cinsault, 5% Counoise, and 4% Grenache.
I love this wine. I really do. This wine is a great wine for drinking on the back porch with friends on a hot summer day. The nose has a lovely bouquet of watermelon and strawberry. There is also the slightest hint of gravel. These flavors carry over to the palate, which is rounded out by a lovely acidity. Personally, I would just enjoy this on it’s own, but if you wanted to pair this food, I’d recommend pairing with grilled/smoked chicken, lightly dressed salads, or shellfish.
This wine retails for $12 and is worth every penny.
