“Sometimes walking away has nothing to do with weakness, and everything to do with strength. We walk away not because we want others to realize out worth and value, but because we finally realize our own.” ~ Robert Tew
If you haven’t noticed, I sort of abandoned the blog. This was not an intentional move, however. It was more of a consequential tactic.
Walking away isn’t something that’s easy. There’s always a risk vs. reward scenario that takes place when one is faced with a situation that may require them to walk away. I know I’ve had plenty of times where the answer was clear as day, but other days where the decision was a lot more complicated than it seemed.
Walking away from the fire of life is always something I struggle with. Recently, I’ve had circumstances where I’ve had one foot out the door and I was ready to walk away. The situation as to why was inconsequential. Yet, it was…to me. Personally. Deep down. The situation involved someone I care about. I couldn’t just walk away from them.
So I didn’t. I let fate intervene and it ran it’s course.
I’m still staying near the door though. I can’t get too comfortable. Not yet. There’s still chapters that are unwritten.
How do you know when the time is right to walk away, though? This article really hits home. For me, the one that hits home the most is #5: “When you want to make any extreme and impulsive life change. Give it a night, at least.”
Do I want to pack my stuff up and move? Of course. Who wouldn’t after the year and a half that I’ve had? However, I know that there’s still work to be done where I’m at.
That begs the question on this Manic Monday. Have you ever just walked away from a situation? Whether it be a toxic relationship, a city/town because you needed a change of scenery, or for any other reason fathomable. If so, how did it turn out for you?
