Christmas is less than a week away…have you already made your wine selections? No? Don’t feel bad, neither have I! Then again, due to extenuating circumstances, I’m not spending the holidays with my family (long story and I don’t want to/can’t really talk about it…it’s one of those things), so I’m with what I’ve called my second family for the holidays. Lucky for me, my second family is full of a cast of characters who I actually enjoy spending time with. I think that’s a pretty danged good excuse to not have my holiday wines picked out quite yet. One of the wines
I love for the holiday table is Tempranillo. It’s one of the most food-friendly wines out there. Not only is it extremely food-friendly, but a good one won’t send you into the poorhouse.
If you’re like me and haven’t picked your holiday wines yet, let me introduce you to two fantastic selections from Spain. The 2014 Vaza Tempranillo and the 2013 Valdubón Tempranillo both meet the criteria for fantastic and delicious.

Both of these wines deliver. A nice combination of fruit, acid and oak make for a pleasant experience with any food pairing. At at $15 MSRP for the Valdubón and $12 MSRP for the Vaza, you can certainly impress your holiday guests on a budget.
Disclaimer: I received these wines as samples for review purposes.
