Who else has gone round after round with tequila such as Jose Cuervo and regretted it the next day? I freely admit that I’m one of those. What I didn’t realize is that Jose Cuervo isn’t *good* tequila.
Let me introduce you to some of the tequilas I’ve recently discovered and have been thoroughly enjoying.
Tequila Don Ramón

Tequila Don Ramón comes in three expressions: Plata (Blanco), Cristalino Reposado, and Cristalino Añejo.
I received the Plata as a sample, and it is delicious! The Plata is clean, slightly sweet, and has little to no burn. However, this isn’t a tequila you’d drink for shots. No no no. This is a sipping tequila.
I may have also made a few cocktails with it. You can find the blueberry margarita I made with it on TikTok, and the Tequila-Limoncello Spritzer on Instagram
SWŌL Tequila

SWŌL Tequila is my first foray into ultra-premium tequila. And ooooh lawdy…this is worth every penny.
I was graciously provided with a bottle of the Añejo by the good folks at Country Wine & Spirits. Like the Don Ramón, SWŌL comes in multiple expressions, including Peach and Cristalino.
The Añejo is smooooooooth. It has been called the “tequila for bourbon fans” and I can see why. It has lovely hints of caramel and vanilla, with a slight nuttiness that makes it a great tequila to just sit, sip, and enjoy.
There’s so much out there when it comes to tequila. Finding a great one in the sea of mass marketed crap is like finding your personal holy grail. I know that, after enjoying these tequilas, Jose Cuervo is no longer welcome in my house!
